Our Inpatient Unit offers the reassurance of round-the-clock expert care and support.
Florence Nightingale Hospice is home to the only Inpatient Hospice Unit in Buckinghamshire, situated within the grounds of Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury.
Our experienced palliative care team provide the highest quality individual care in a calm and welcoming environment, whether you are coming in for symptom or pain control, rehabilitation or for end of life care.
Our multi-disciplinary team work together to provide individual care which addresses not just a patient’s clinical needs, but their emotional and spiritual needs too. The team includes consultants, doctors, nurses, physios, occupational therapists, spiritual care and complementary therapists.
During your stay, the doctors and nursing team will talk to you about your symptoms and what is important to you to be able to continue doing the things you love. We will always involve you and your loved ones in decisions about your care, respecting your wishes throughout your stay with us.
Many patients who stay on our inpatient wards will return home after a brief period of medical and nursing interventions. Other patients will choose to be cared for in their final few weeks or days within the unit.
"The Hospice was my Mum's safe place and she spent her final days surrounded by the best care, love, respect and understanding you could wish for.
Not only did the wonderful nurses, doctors & volunteers help Mum but us as a family too at what was the worst time."
