"Volunteering is an important part of my life. The charity has such a special role in the community and it is so rewarding to be part of a team. My manager has been so supportive over the years and has really helped with my social anxiety - I feel more confident interacting with people - both customers and colleagues."
Jacqueline, Walton Court Shop Volunteer
You can make a real difference to people in your local community by volunteering at a Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity shop.
Our shops are the face of the charity, seeing supporters and raising vital funds every single day on high streets, retail parks, and a farm (!), all across Buckinghamshire and its borders.
Volunteering with us is a great way to help local patients whilst meeting new people and building your skills. We’ll give you training and support – and you can choose how much time you volunteer.
What will I be doing?
You will be working with the Shop Manager and our volunteer team to create a welcoming and vibrant shop for our customers and donors. Whether you prefer to work behind the scenes or in a customer facing role, there are plenty of tasks for you to get involved with. And whatever you chose to do, as a Shop Volunteer for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, you will be helping us to raise as much money as possible to provide care and support for local people. You may be involved in the following activities:- Sorting donations, and preparing items for sale.
- Creating attractive displays in the shop window and across the shop floor.
- Providing excellent customer service and using a touch-screen till.
- Using your local knowledge to find ideas to improve the shopping experience for customers.
