Glynn tells us why he loves volunteering in our Online Team

Glynn Online Volunteer

“I am currently volunteering with the Online Team. I started about two years ago after my wife passed away. The Florence Nightingale Hospice nurses gave her fantastic care in her last few days, and I felt I would like to give something back. It is a decision that I do not regret as it is a great team, and you feel you are doing something useful in generating funds for a special Charity. There is excellent training and plenty of support and advice whilst you are volunteering.

“The role involves putting items onto eBay for sale. Something I enjoy most is researching items, be it jewellery, silverware, pottery, glassware, toys, collectables etc. I’m often surprised at the value of an item and the history of the manufacturer. One of the best things I researched was some Britains’ lead 15th Century Knights. Thinking they would only make a few pounds, they sold for £155! Having researched and posted an item on eBay, it’s fun watching the price increase during bidding.

“There are other roles available in the Online Team if working on the computer is not for you, including packers who wrap the items for shipment. The voluntary work is very flexible, and you could work half-day, a full day or several days a week if you wish.”
