I volunteer at Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity. I began my time at the Aylesbury Showroom as a Duke of Edinburgh volunteer, completing a 13-week course, while assisting with both online and in-store sales.
I chose to volunteer at a Florence shop because they are such a dedicated organisation, and their Hospice has assisted several patients and families who are going through difficult times, as well as providing end-of-life care to those who needed it.
I was given the opportunity to help generate money for the cause by volunteering at their charity shops, and I continue to do so whenever possible. During my time here, I obtained valuable retail experience and worked in my first professional setting. All of the personnel here were friendly and willing to converse and provide a helping hand when necessary. That is why, after my bronze DofE course finished, I chose to become an official volunteer with FNHC.
As a volunteer with FNHC, you will have the opportunity to learn a variety of new skills and work in various parts of the retail sector. One example of this is e-commerce, where I was taught how to utilise various market platforms such as eBay, as well as how to list products and use the photography studio to take images of them. Furthermore, volunteering in Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity Shops improves your communication and customer service skills, and you always leave the shop feeling as if you worked hard and made a difference.
Personally, I always enjoy volunteering here and have had nothing but positive experiences. I truly cannot express my gratitude to Florence enough for the skills and knowledge it has provided me, and I will continue to volunteer here for as long as I am able to.
