We are celebrating Hospice Care Week

We’re delighted to be supporting Hospice Care Week from 7th – 13th October.

Hospice Care Week is an annual campaign that raises awareness of hospice care and is organised by Hospice UK.

The theme for this year’s campaign is hospice retail.  Our shops raise more than 50% of the money the Charity provides for hospice care.

We have 13 (soon to be 15) hospice shops across Buckinghamshire and its borders. We are so grateful to our donors, shoppers, volunteers and retail staff for raising vital funds for our Hospice.

Our Buckingham, Hazlemere and Princes Risborough shops have dedicated Bereavement Listening spaces. These offer a private and relaxing setting for bereaved people to meet with our volunteer listeners. We are one of a very few hospices to offer this service within our shops.

Liz Monaghan, Lead Nurse at the Hospice says “I’m grateful to everyone who supports us by volunteering, fundraising and shopping with us. With your support, we can continue to make improvements to the Hospice for our patients and their families.

“This year we have been able to expand our Day Hospice from two days to three days. We have installed awnings in our garden so our patients and their families can be outside, and enjoy those sunny days we’ve had so many of this Summer!

“We’ve been able to create new roles in our Lymphoedema Team, two Clinical Nurse Specialists and a Rehabilitation Therapist working in the Hospice and the community. None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for the support of the Charity and the generous donations they receive.”

We hope you will join us in celebrating the incredible work of both the Hospice and Charity in our 35th year.
