Following a period of illness with ovarian cancer, Vanessa’s mother, Carol died in the Hospice last July, aged 76.
Carol lived in Holmer Green with her husband, Terry. She had two daughters, Vanessa and Amanda, a son, Nicholas and six granddaughters, whom she loved spending time with. She loved to knit and made all her granddaughters’ cardigans when they were babies.
At the end of June, Carol went into hospital; she was very unwell and struggled to take her medication orally. Vanessa asked for her to be moved to the Hospice.
When Carol arrived at the Hospice, she was warmly welcomed into a room with a beautiful view of the garden. Her daughter, Vanessa, shared, “Mum was delighted to be able to see the flowers from her bed. We all visited and spent precious time with her. For the first time in weeks, she was comfortable enough to fall into a restful sleep.”
The compassionate care provided by the Hospice team made all the difference. “The nurses were fantastic, and the atmosphere was so warm and supportive. They treated us with kindness and put Mum’s needs first. We were able to come and go freely, and in just two days, they felt like extended family to us.”
Vanessa wholeheartedly recommends the Hospice to anyone facing a similar journey. “Mum was comfortable and at peace there. Going into the Hospice was the best decision for her, and we can’t thank the nurses enough for their extraordinary care.”
At the Hospice, every patient and their family are met with compassion, dignity, and unwavering support—because everyone deserves to feel at home in their final days.
