My name is Franny, I’m 15 years old, and I volunteer at the Winslow shop. I’ve been volunteering since September 2024 and really enjoy it. I started because I wanted to build my confidence and develop skills to help me in a future job.
I volunteer on Saturday afternoons for a few hours. I enjoy sorting through donations, especially when I’m asked to research particular items that might be valuable due to their brand and could be sold by the Online team. I get to volunteer with people of all ages and have been warmly welcomed by everyone, learning something new each week.
The shop manager, Kirsty, has been especially supportive and has really helped boost my confidence. Volunteering at a hospice charity means a lot to me, as my grandma was cared for by a hospice during her final days battling leukaemia, before she passed away when I was very young.
If you’re a teen looking to gain experience, meet great people, and do something meaningful, get involved. You won’t regret it!
