Volunteering is genuinely great fun

I started volunteering at Florence Nightingale for my silver DofE, but closer to the end of my six months, I realised I wanted to stay.

I’m still volunteering because it’s different every time I go in and there are always new challenges. The team has been fantastic in teaching me how to do all the different jobs and they are extremely kind and patient with me every week.

I feel like volunteering isn’t seen as being as valuable an experience as paid work, but that just wasn’t true for me. Actually, volunteering has been very good at teaching me how to interact with customers and develop people skills. I’d really recommend volunteering to everyone, it genuinely is great fun :).
