Thank you to Sam and Vicki who took part in the Turks Head 10km run! The pair decided to raise funds for us after Sam’s best friend’s mother’s (Maureen’s) life-limiting illness was treated at the Hospice. They raised £1,235 and that was 247% over their target which is a tremendous achievement for them and all who donated towards their cause.
The couple run regularly and have previously ran the course surrounding Twickenham and the River Thames at last year’s event. So, they were feeling confident, they knew the route and also that it is well supported by the local community – meaning a whole lot of fun. The only concern going into the event was the temperature which reached 31°!
We asked Sam about how they felt raising over £1,000 for the charity, “It’s a nice feeling to have such great and generous friends and family, who are the ones who should feel proud about the amount raised. We’re doing the easy bit!”
Sam also added, “If something good, no matter how small, comes from this then that’s all we can do. We were lucky to visit Maureen in the Hospice and see the care of the staff too and I hope the amount raised helps them and the charity.”
Congratulations to Sam and Vicki for completing the course in one hour and from all of us at the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, thank you for representing us. To both of you and those who donated, this will very much help the Hospice. Thank you.
