A display of 1,000 stunning hand-crafted metal forget-me-nots set in the beautiful grounds of the Aviary Gardens at Waddesdon Manor opened for everyone to admire and enjoy this week.
The installation has been created by Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity and each of the forget-me-nots has been dedicated to the memory of a loved one.
“Forget-Me-Nots have a natural link to remembrance, but also represent enduring love through challenging times, and this is what we see daily between our patients and their loved ones, so it felt like the perfect flower for 2023. It has been an extremely special project and a privilege for us to be able to create. We hope that the display will offer everyone who visits their own time to reflect and remember,” says Michelle Merrison, In Memory Manager at the charity.
Sue attended a private viewing on Monday for those who had dedicated a flower in memory of a loved one, she told us “The location of the display was fantastic, with the blue of the forget-me-nots contrasting against the yellow daffodils. The scene was enhanced by the bird song from the neighboring aviaries. It felt like such a special way to remember my parents, thank you to everyone who made this event possible.”
The Forever Forget-Me-Nots will remain on display at Waddesdon Manor from Wednesday 19th April until Monday 1st May.
All the money raised through the dedications of the Forever Forget-Me-Nots will go to support Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity to fund excellent hospice care for local patients and families across Buckinghamshire and its borders.
Supporters can continue to dedicate a flower for the duration of the installation, visit: https://fnhospice.org.uk/foreverflowers to make your dedication.
