Introducing the Walk of Light…

Aylesbury Walk of Light web

We are delighted to return to Aylesbury with a brand new fundraising event in Aylesbury this summer on Saturday 24th June.

Our Walk of Light aims to bring people together to show their support and raise funds for local hospice care, whilst enjoying the green spaces around Aylesbury.

The event will see walkers choose 5 mile or 10 mile circular routes around Watermead Lake and through the green Meadowcroft Open Space through the late afternoon and evening, before returning to Watermead to cheer fellow walkers over the finish line and watch the event’s closing ceremony at 9.30pm as the sun goes down. Walkers will be invited to write a personal dedication on a ‘Light of Love’ to a loved one or add a message of thanks or support to the hospice team – the lights will illuminate the lake as part of the closing ceremony, followed by a low noise firework display.

“We are excited to launch this new event to recognise the vital work of our hospice team and remember loved ones,” says Steve Butcher, Events Manager at the charity. “We really hope that our local community will turn out to show their support and help us be there to care for more patients and their families, helping them make the most of the time they have left with each other.”

Registration costs £20 (£17 Early Bird until 30th April). Walkers can choose their start time and route on Saturday 24th June and stay to enjoy refreshments and entertainment at the finish.

Walkers will receive a free commemorative Walk of Light 2023 T-shirt and Finisher’s Medal as well as the opportunity to add a message to the charity’s Lights of Love.
