Introducing our Volunteer Ambassadors

march 24
Meet Alan, Mike, Dorothy and Rob, our Volunteer Ambassadors.

They represent our Charity in our local communities, helping to raise awareness of what we do and how you can get involved.

Our Ambassadors deliver talks about our work, showing how varied and vital it is. They are all passionate about hospice care and have many years’ experience as Charity trustees, bereavement listeners and in medicine, nursing and social care. Some also have personal experience as family members have been cared for by the Hospice team.

There are many preconceptions about hospices and hospice care such as hospices being sad places which our Ambassadors address. Hospices are often places of laughter, and, as well as care, our patients often enjoy a variety of fulfilling activities at the Hospice. Care can be delivered in a patient’s home not just as an In-patient, and patients often go home after being treated in the Hospice.

Our Ambassadors deliver talks to community groups, businesses, youth groups, religious places of worship, service organisations and schools on:

• How hospice care came to Bucks and our very own Hospice Appeal.
• Florence Nightingale Hospice – care at the Hospice and in the community and what this means for patients and their families.
• How to support us.
• Question and answer sessions on hospice care.
• Case studies
• Sustainable Fashion and the rise of ethical shopping.

If you’d like to find out more about more and book an Ambassador to give a talk at your own event please contact us.
